Rating: rating is 1 out of 5 for Tomorrowland (7 votes)

Each rendition of Disney’s Magic Kingdom contains a Tomorrowland with the exception of the Paris park. There, guests can look to the future in Discoveryland. One of the reasons that Tomorrowland was incorporated into the Disney theme parks is that Walt Disney was a proud futurist who wanted to give the world a glimpse of the future through movies and television shows. It seems natural that he would want to do the same thing in his family parks.

Here are some of the attractions that can be found in the various Tomorrowlands:

• The Carousel of Progress: This particular attraction was actually created by Disney and WED Enterprises during the early 1960s for the General Electric Pavilion at the World’s Fair. After the initial unveiling, the attraction was located in Disney World, California. After 1975, however, the attraction was moved to the Orlando, Florida Disneyworld.

• Autopia, one of the original attractions still remaining in the Disneyland Magic Kingdom park, was Walt Disney’s creation that predicted the arrival of fast-moving traffic and multi-lane highways. Yet another example of how Disney’s Imagineering truly encompassed the technology of the future. This particular ride exists in many different forms in almost every Disney theme park!

• Space Mountain is another attraction that is present in almost every Disney theme park. Two of the installations of this attraction boast being the first completely enclosed coaster with a synchronized soundtrack in the world and in America. One of the favorites among guests, Space Mountain has undergone numerous upgrades and safety improvements over the years. Many people do not realize that the Orlando installation is almost entirely the same as the Matterhorn ride in the same park – apart from being indoors with a different theme.

The philosophy behind Tomorrowland was to show guests how the world was steadily progressing toward a technological utopia. However, there is a bit of reality involved because most of Disney’s exhibits are centered around the major corporations that hold the key to the future. General Electric and Motorola are just two examples of corporations that are rapidly developing the technology necessary to move society into the future at a rapid pace.

Since Tomorrowland was first build, we’ve watched as the original tomorrows have passed. Therefore, the imagineers are constantly working to build attractions that are futuristic for visitors of all ages. While some attractions like Autopia are classics that will always remain, new features such as Mission: Space have come along to keep wowing visitors of all ages.

When you visit Tomorrowland, you won’t want to miss a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. This pollution-free magnetic transit ride takes you on a tour of Tomorrowland that actually includes popping in on two of the hottest attractions, Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

While the attractions of Tomorrowland are fun for guests of all ages, park aficionados recommend that you eat elsewhere. Apart from the noodle stand, there really is nothing exciting to speak of in the way of culinary delights. Enjoy your time in Tomorrowland during traditional mealtimes for the smallest crowds! Then, move onto to another area to find the right dining location for your family.
